Minimum Qualifications for Admission to Examination: High school diploma or GED and vocational/technical training in the treatment of wastewater; supplemented by seven (7) years previous experience and/or training involving treatment or mechanical maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid State of Louisiana Class IV Wastewater Treatment certification. Must possess a valid State of Louisiana Class D driver’s license upon appointment to the position. May be required to obtain and maintain a valid State of Louisiana Class A or B commercial driver’s license. Kind of Work The purpose of this classification is to operate, monitor, and maintain a modified activated sludge treatment plant on an assigned shift to ensure effective and efficient treatment of wastewater in compliance with all established regulations, standards, and procedures. This class is reserved for employees who have obtained a Class IV Wastewater Treatment certification and have demonstrated considerable proficiency in treatment operations. This position is subject to 24-hour call. Kind of Examination This examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, a performance test or any combination thereof deemed necessary to adequately screen and rank applicants.  Acceptable applicants will be notified of the time, place, and date of assembled testing, if used.
