Biological Odour Scrubber

We are considering biological odour scrubers for our wastewater treatment plants for treating foul air from inlet works, grit tanks, bio selectors and sludge treatment area. I would like to hear your experience on the performance and reliability of the bio scrubers.

They work fairly well.  The units can be constructed using common building material and are relatively maintenance free.

They need to be kept moist, may require some alkalinity as H2S is oxidised to H2SO4, and the bed voidage needs to be monitored long term as the bark, peat, etc composts quite well and the void spaces fill up.

The only downside is that they are land intensive when compared to compact chemical scrubbers.

We run a set of biological scrubbers in our plant for odor control. Probably if you could elucidate with gas analyses parameters, I could provide you with more information. Huh

Hi,
I have operational experience over 18 years in cleaning H2S and CS2 from a waste gas stream with a biotrickling filter. Last year we have double our filtration capacity. Now we have eight BTF.
The technology you can look under http://www.lenzing.com/engineering/products/umwelttechnik/abluftreinigung/biogat...!

Itīs running very well!

Best regards
