RELATED EXPERIENCE Employer: Bell County Forestry Camp Title: Water Treatment Plant/Distribution System Operator Location: Pineville, KY Duration: March 2006-August 2007 Job Duties: • Routinely monitor source water for algae growth and seasonal lake turnover. • Inspect and maintain lake pumps and dock. • Adjust influent flow into the plant as needed per demand. • Monitor all water for alkalinity using a titration method. • Monitor raw water PH using a HACH Sension 1 PH meter. • Monitor turbidity using a HACH 2100P Turbidimeter. • Check temperature. • Use all test results to determine dosage of chemicals needed to treat the water. • Upon chemical mix into the water, visually inspect flocculation basin to determine the proper formation of the floc. • Monitor filtration process for PH, chlorine residual and turbidity to determine how well the previous processes are working. • Visually inspect the filter for the formation of mud balls. • Backwash filter on basis of time lapse, breakthrough, or head loss. • Ensure proper filter expansion rate and adjust backwash flow rate for optimum cleaning with minimal media loss during backwash. • Ensure finished water has proper PH and chlorine residual for delivery to distribution system and consumption. • Ensure finished water turbidity is within regulations using MicroTOL in line turbidimeter. • Test chlorine room alarm. • Monitor chlorine tanks. • Ensure proper operation of chlorine room ventilation system. • Monitor for chlorine leaks. • Change chlorine tanks. • Mix chemicals in chemical barrels to make a 6% solution. • Make necessary adjustments on chemical feed rates. • Perform all maintenance on chemical feed pumps and all feed lines. • Perform maintenance and calibrations on all meters and laboratory equipment. • Monitor chlorine residual at different points in the distribution system to ensure that it never gets below .20 mg/L. • Collect bacteriological samples. • Exercise all distribution system valves on a biannual basis. • Assist in any and all repairs completed on distribution system. • Maintain detailed and accurate daily logs and monthly operating reports. • Assist in yearly consumer confidence report. • Ensure all proper supplies are in stock for daily operations. • Do all purchase orders for supplies as needed. • Monitor all lab results to insure that plant remains in compliance with all regulations. • Perform all necessary steps stated by Division of Water when lab results are out of compliance. • Inspect and maintain emergency generator.
