Project Name: Hydrogen generation for 10 kW Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell
Project Description: Determined a cost-effective process for hydrogen generation using combustion of hydrocarbons
•      Achieved 10% increase in conversion by modifying the existing process
•      Designed the process and supervised testing, developed test protocols for oxidation and water gas shift reactions
•      Optimized energy using auto-thermal temperature in the range of 873-923K for C1-C4 compounds
•      Developed PFD, heat and material balance models on excel
•      Responsible for attending to and resolving plant emergencies, developed safety procedures for high temperature reactions and supervised handling and storage of flammable process fluids.

Duties in Process Development Department
Project Name: Pilot plant commissioning for downstream processing of crude Lactic Acid
Project Description: Concept to commercialization of lactic acid production as a final product
•      Pilot plant operation: start-up, shut-down and production support, flow monitoring and product analysis
•      Responsible for safe operation of Batch reactors and vacuum filtration for lactates, CSTRs and distillation column for purification of crude lactic acid
•      Devised process control strategies, technical scope development and fabrication

DESIGN ENGINEER (Internship)
National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, India         May 05 – May 06
•      Flue gas treatment for reducing the concentration of hydrogen sulfide and sulfur dioxide
•      Sizing of absorption column and adsorption column for different flue gas concentrations.
•      Led a team of 4 to produce the desired flue gas concentration using different combinations of absorbent solution and adsorbent beds, using safety equipment and standard procedures
•      Monitored gas and liquid flow rates to calculate kinetic parameters
