RO  System - Air bubble in feed water effect
Dec 10th, 2011, 6:04pm

Hi All,

I'm new comer to this forum.
I'm starting my own 10 m3 / hr RO system. I have problem with trap air in the feed water to RO system. We could see air bubble flow in the feed flowmeter. Could air bubble or trap air in the feed water make problem to RO membrane ?

Thanks for your help

Hi

Welcome to this forum.

Air trap inside the RO will make problem to membrane. It should be covered in the manual operation to avoiding the air trap.

How to solve

Reduce the flow and running with low pressure, open the sampling point in every housing membrane until full water flowing out.

Hi Dwi,

Does air trap give a major effect to RO membrane ? We run the RO plant about 2 hour with air bubble in the RO feed water, any effect to RO membrane in this short period running ?

Thank u

For short running may have less negatic impact, but if you run this RO system in many time more impact will come.

Also with air trap in the system, you will get less product

Hi,

You need a degasifier inorder to release the gas from the feed water.

Best regards,

If the reverse osmosis system circulation management allows too much water to circulation, it can create a constant gurgling circulation of water through the P-trap. To repair this problem, replace the reverse osmosis system circulation management valve.

Well, the problem might be low feed water pressure. RO membrane needs at least 35-40 psi in order to work appropriately. Anything below that will slow water generation while increasing waste water flow. .

you need just to add small air release valve to remove the air ahead of the RO uit
