Sewage WWTP:  SLUDGE HOLDING TANK

I'm Karan here just join working in Sewage WWTP. I did encounter a problem where the sludge in sludge holding tank is getting harder and rising higher level in the tank. The sludge send to thickening tank process is working well, but still there is prob in sludge holding tank.

Advise from member are appreciate.

Does the sludge holding tank has any equipment installed in it ? or is it just a tank ?

Aeration of the holding tank contents may help this problem.

The forum can provide lots of help if you provide more technical details.  We need to be able to "see" the problem to be able to assist..

Sorry for lack of info. The 2 twin tank consist of 1 mixer each. The sludge from this tank send to THICKENED SLUDGE HOLDING TANK. Btw, Mr. Grrun, i didnt understan what u saying.

My technician claim that the mixer is small size for the tank and this might cause the sludge not mix on top surface. This made the surface sludge hard.

Karan,
Can you provide the following information:
- type of sludges (primary/secondary etc)
- approximate flow per day of each sludge type
- size and number of tanks
- operating parameters (i.e. sludge levels)
- target sludge density from the tank

Otherwise we are still trying to guess what your problem really is.
