P removal
Mar 22nd, 2012, 11:48am

We are using sodium aluminate for phosphorus removal and alkalinitiy adddition.  Are influent T.P is about 5.0 mg/L

What is a good starting dosage?    We have bulk storage of 4000 gallons.  We were using caustic at 50% solution and were feeding around 35 gallons/day.

Thanks Jason

jar test is the best way. Monitor how much orthophoshate you have in your mixed liquor (filter first) at the end of the process and you'll find a good starting point lab scale. Your chemical rep should do this for you.

Some of the influent P will be taken up as a nutrient (more if you're obtaining some enhanced biological P removal).

hope this helps,

Ryan
