SBR?

Hi there,

Is it possible to reduce a 9000 BOD SBR plant to near zero over 24 hours?

SBR size based on maximum daily input flow.

yes. Whether you'll grow bacteria that settle out are a completely different story though.

More info is needed here. What type of waste? What is the normal BOD and how many lbs per day of BOD (or COD) are treated per day? What is your MLSS concentration in the SBR? Is this 9,000 BOD a sidestream? How much of it is there? (what's the flowrate and the amount of the high strength waste)

best regards,

Ryan

Hi Ryan,

Winery waste, Caustic, acids, juices, etc

Normal BOD is 9000 over 10 weeks.

I am unsure yet as I have not done a SBR yet and am trying to work out whether a SBR has advantages over CFS.

Here's some reference material I found on SBRs versus continuous flow systems. http://www.ncsafewater.org/Pics/Training/AnnualConference/AC07TechnicalPapers/Wastewater/AC07WW_Tues0900_Firmin.pdf

Due to the high BOD anaerobic pre-treatment followed by an aerobic polishing stage would be my guess as to what an engineer would elect in this situation.
