Operates and performs preventive maintenance, including minor repairs on various types of moderately complex maintenance equipment used in the support and operation of all major sewer interceptors, regulators, tide gates, diversionary structure, outfalls, treatment plant equipment and other associated structures and systems used for storage, treatment or control of waste water. This employee may be required to operate equipment of lower classification and/or perform manual tasks in unloading or loading materials. This is skilled manual work in the operation of heavy standard motor trucks, semi-trailers and bucket truck. This employee is expected to follow detailed work assignments with a minimum of supervision and exercises considerable judgment in executing and accomplishing the tasks and goals of the combined sewer overflow plan. This employee must be able to work extended hours and be available for emergency call as needed. Perform all related works as needed.

Job Requirements

· High school or GED with the ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process, safety and quality instructions) and the ability to interpret and record data. Must be able to carry out verbal and written instructions and perform basic mathematical calculations.
· Some vocational training and mechanical aptitude preferred, with the ability to read, interpret and record data from meters, gauges, scales, panels, computer consoles and other equipment.
· At least one year experience in a related position with experience, in a similar environment preferred, with working knowledge of the standard practices, common tools, materials, and occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade. Experience using material handling equipment, pressure gauges and precision measuring instruments. Experience safely using trade tools and equipment to inspect, maintain, troubleshoot or install mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment. Must have the ability to diagnose basic and routine process and mechanical problems and take remedial corrective action.
· Must have basic computer skills and have ability to operate programs for process control, the Computer Maintenance Management System.
· Must be able to serve rotational 24 hour emergency on-call if required by site.
· Valid driver license and safe driving history.
· Preference given to Wilmington, DE residents.
