cavity pumps max operation temperature
May 07th, 2012, 3:44pm

Hi All Experts,

I have cavity type sludge pumps(stator rubber, rotors steel) and have dry run protections. What max temperature can I set them to  be on the safe side? Pumps are still break-in period but one of them gets heat more than others. Have you ever exprienced this before?
thanks in advance.
Serkan.

SRKNK,  I have used this type of pump in an industrial setting.  Hog processing plant in the grease(liquified animal fat) removal.  The oil was around 175-250 degrees f.  The standard rubber stators would blow out after two weeks of operation.  I talked to the pump manufacturer and we ordered a different type of stator that worked well.  I would suggest talking to the manufacturer of the pump and see what they suggest for temperature operating ranges of your pump.
I hope this helps,  David
