Newbie to this industry

              Experts,
I'm a newbie to the industry. I was recently given the task to research this industry and find out what potential products we could manufacture, who our customers would be, and who our competitors would be. We are a custom plastic tank mfg (polypropylene.) Currently we build galvanizing, metal liner, containment, and fire truck tanks. I've noticed that DAF tanks are sometimes made of polypropylene and look very similar to some of our products that we fabricate. is there anyone on this forum who is involved in the designing of these tanks? Maybe you could answer a few of my questions regarding this style of treatment tank? Again, I'm new to this field, I am a salesman but not trying to sell anything at the moment. I'm simply trying to gather some information from experts in the field.

Treatment processes use various size and shapes of tanks, some small some large, some for settling, some for flotation, some pressure vessels, etc., etc., so there are probably many options for use of Polypropylene in the manufacture. However there are may other suitable, (and probably more suitable), materials for certain applications.
You really need to familiarise yourself with the processes.

        Tom,
Thanks for your post. So far I'm trying to do my best with familiarizing myself with the different processes. Are there any processes, other than DAF,  that polypropylene tanks are more suitable than other materials such as stainless steel? I couldn't imagine a more durable, non-corrosive tank not being able to replace these tanks made of material that is sure to corrode and leak. But then again, what do i know? haha

Many plants use polypropylene tanks for chemical storage, poly-electrolyte mixing and storage, flocculation, pH adjustment, etc. Some of these may be small, (1 tonne capacity, while others are large .. up to 20 or 30 tonne capacity).

You wouldn't happen to know of any companies that have a good reputation for building these tanks would you? I'm curious to see which mfg.'s are producing these tanks out of poly.

     Santa Cruz,
Touche! I actually have been doing this already. This market is just so vast. I should have been more specific. I guess i just wanted to know whether there were any poly tank mfg.'s who's names you hear often, or that are most commonly trusted within the industry. I figured I'd have a better idea of obtaining this information by asking gentlemen of your expertise.
