Gravitational thikener

Hi,

Someone knows if a gravitational thikener can thicken sludge to 5%?

I'm asking for real experience and not theoretical. If yes, can you elaborate about the inlet for the thikener? Do you add any polymers?

Thanks a lot,
David

It depends on the type of sludge.
If it is pure biological sludge then maybe not 5%.
If it is primary sludge with some grit then may it can achieve 5%.
If it is a biological sludge containing some inorganic materials, (e.g. Lime), then may yes it can achieve 5%.

We would add polymer to our gravity thickener, which was mostly biological sludge with some inorganic matter ( scum wells / both primary and secondary ), we would get between 3% to 5%. Without poly we would only get 1% to 2%.
EDIT:
Im sorry i was thinking of our blending tank solids.
Our Gravity thickener numbers were 3% to 5% without poly, with poly they would range from 5% to 9%. If we had it to thick our pumps would not move it to our digesters.

Thanks a lot!

Is the concentration you guys get consistant? and how many days in the year you get low concentration?
How high temperatures effect the concentration of sludge? (temperature above 24 degrees celsius)

Have a great week
