SSM is currently seeking a Sr. Water and Wastewater Design Engineer in our Reading, PA office.  Responsibilities include:
• Provide technical response and guidance to water and wastewater facility clients.
• Be a technical leader for water and wastewater process design.
• Conduct engineering studies.
• Prepare conceptual and detailed designs.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships; manage client expectations and ensure project deliverables, schedules, and budget objectives are met.
• Apply established project management processes in initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing projects.
• Be responsible for managing assignments relating to the review of water and wastewater projects, including water treatment plants, water reservoirs and pump houses, sewage treatment plants, lagoons, and sewage pumping stations.
• Utilize your exposure to hydraulics of piping and pumping systems and storm water management.
• Participate in and have the technical abilities to coordinate and prepare proposals, and tender and negotiate contracts.

Requirements:
• Bachelors or Masters Degree in Environmental and/or Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineering (P.E.) license.
• Wide and varied range of experience in water and wastewater treatment projects, including sludge handling for municipal and industrial clients.
• At least 20 years of direct consulting experience, or at least 10 years of municipal water and wastewater process experience.
• Demonstrated direct client and project management responsibility.
• Provide leadership and direction to junior staff with respect to technical practice, performance management, and training opportunities.
• Ensure branch goals are achieved with a strong emphasis on the business unit goals of growth and profit.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Strong water and wastewater technical background, including extensive knowledge of all project phases, such as conceptual design, pre-design, detailed design, and construction administration.
• In-depth knowledge of biological wastewater treatment, including activated sludge and related processes (e.g., IFAS, BAF, etc.) and modeling of these processes using computerized software.
• In-depth knowledge of water treatment processes, including filtration, disinfection, and sludge handling; as well as experience with process modeling and hydraulic modeling software.
• Experienced and adept in marketing, cost estimating, and report and proposal writing.
• A team player and mentor.
