Bowling Green Municipal Utilities is accepting applications for a full-time Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator at its plant in Bowling Green, KY. The position will work 3rd shift (10p to 6a) with rotating weekends. Essential duties include:
• Monitors wastewater treatment processes and performs general operation and preventive maintenance tasks on equipment. • Utilizes computer systems to monitor automated plant operating systems, remote facilities, and security systems. • Operates various equipment, including pumps, valves and controls on unit processes, • Mixes chemicals required for treatment process. • Conducting sampling during the treatment process and performs laboratory testing on samples. • If not currently certified in wastewater treatment, this individual will be required to progress towards “certified operator” status through the state of Kentucky’s certification program. Reciprocity may be available for certified operators from other states. Contact Kentucky Division of Water for information.
A high school diploma or graduate equivalency is required. The work requires moderate physical effort to perform manual labor tasks. Some work will be performed under prevailing weather conditions. This individual must be able to operate a back hoe, a dump truck, a Bobcat, and a fork lift. The work environment involves proximity to untreated wastewater, and requires the individual to follow prescribed safety practices and to use safety equipment. Use of computers with standard office software is required. Competency in basic math is required.
Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma or graduate equivalency. Must have the ability to obtain wastewater treatment certification by the state of Kentucky.
Preferred Characteristics: Possession of certification by KY Division of Water as a wastewater treatment plant operator (Class I, II, III, or IV). Experience using backhoe, forklift, and Bobcat.
