temperature in STP
Jun 28th, 2012, 9:26am

Hi Experts
I hope you are well.
I have a question about temperature in stabilization pond. if average air temperature in cold climate is 0.2 C, then what is the temperature in wastewater in anaerobic and facultative pond?
Can we say the relation between air and wastewater temperature in lagoons (in metcalf and Eddy) is right here?
Thanks alot.
Regards

the lagoon will stratisfy into layers of different temperatures if it's deep enough. The handbook probably gives close estimates, but to be sure they should check manually.

Dear sludge judge
Thank you for the reply. May be sounds stupid but I want to know if the relation: Tw=AfTa+QTi/(Af+Q) is used for just lagoons or it can be used for stabilization pond too. A friend have told that this relation can be used anywhere even in activated sludge, is it true?
Best Regards

I  would think that this relationship ought to hold true in any "pond" situation where the water is allowed to become quiescent.  Wastewater aeration tanks  would not be a good choice for this to hold true.
