determining biological kinetic coefficients
Jul 15th, 2012, 5:14am

Hi all
I have some questions about determining kinetic coefficients of heterotrophic bacteria in biological treatment for a specific wastewater using sequencing batch reactor.
1-Is it require to inhibit growth of autotrophic bacteria for determining kinetic coefficients of heterotrophic bacteria?

2-Is it possible to use the method of kinetic coefficient determination of activated sludge for SBR in the same way?

( I read some articles in those they ran activated sludge reactor in different SRTs then they plot   X(SRT)/(S0-S)=Ks/k*1/S+1/k
and calculating k,Ks.It should be noted in the above equation X is MLSS not heterotrophic bacteria concentration!!!!!!!!)

Thanks a lot

Hi,

Chapter 8 of Biological Wastewater Treatment, 2nd ed. by Grady, Daigger, and Lim contains excellent descriptions of the methods for determining kinetic coefficients.
