i have a customer who runs a soap bottling factory and he needs to clean up the effluent from the bottling lines before it can be discharged to sewer. i believe it's mainly suspended solids and COD by i am concerned about the variety of contaminants as there are many different products bottled
does anyone have experience of this?

First thing to do is characterize the wastewater with data on flow, COD, TSS, BOD, sulfate, N and P.  Then we may be able to help.

Dear NickB,

if the soap is the main contaminant I would try to recycle the fatty acids into the production process after separating them at acidic pH.

Kind regards

In addition to the waste characterization recommended by Peter; you might obtain the principle chemicals used for the bottle cleaning compound.
