TDS and blowdown
Aug 04th, 2012, 10:17am

Hi,

To decrease a TDS blowdown should increase. Is there any other way to decrease the TDS in an cooling tower without increasing the percentage blowdown of a system?

Usually considered impractical; but using RO or IX water for make-up is one way.

Depending on the source water, and if the goal is a lower discharge rate, one way to reduce TDS is via pretreatment to the make-up water.

RO system is already present..still the TDS are high and to avoid scaling we increase the percentage blowdown..
