Plant/Process Description:
EPCOR designed, built and now operates a
complete sewer system for the District of Sooke,
BC, a community of 8,700, locatd 34 km west of
Victoria.
The system includes a 27 km collection system
and a secondary wastewater treatment facility.
Secondary
sewage treatment removes 90% of total suspended
solids
and high levels of other contaminants, providing
significant
environmental benefits to the District of
Sooke.
Sooke’s Wastewater Treatment Plant uses an
integrated
wastewater treatment process that removes the
various
components of sewage through mechanical and
biological
means. This includes, ICEAS®
Intermittent Cycle Extended Aeration System with
secondary digestion & UV disinfection.
