Plant/Process Description:
The Vauxhall PCP, located in east London, is a
conventional activated sludge plant consisting
of
two independent sections with a total capacity
of
4.6 MIGD. The Vauxhall PCP currently serves a
drainage area of approximately 1,200 ha and a
population of 22,000. The plant receives a
combination of residential and commercial
sewage. The plant is operated to ensure
continuous phosphorus removal and nitrification,
and seasonal effluent disinfection. UV
disinfection is employed. Final effluent
discharge is to the south branch of the Thames
River. Waste activated sludge is
thickened using gravity belt thickeners and is
combined with primary sludge for trucking to the
Greenway PCC for incineration.
