Plant/Process Description:
The Oxford PCP consists of a conventional
activated sludge plant rated at 0.8 MIGD (3.63
MLD) and membrane bioreactor plant (MBR) rated
at 3.0 MIGD (13.62 MLD). Wastewater is pumped
through two rotating drum fine screens before
flow splitting to each section. The MBR section
includes three primary settling tanks, three
aeration tanks, and six treatment trains each
consisting of four membrane cassettes.
Treatment includes continuous phosphorus
removal, nitrification, and seasonal UV
disinfection. Waste activated sludge is
thickened using membranes. Primary and
thickened WAS is trucked to the Greenway
Pollution Control Centre for
incineration. Final effluent discharge is to
the main branch of the Thames River. Typical
effluent has a CBOD5 and TSS of less than 2 mg/L.
