Plant/Process Description:
The Durham Facility provides wastewater treatment
for the Cities of Beaverton, Tigard, Sherwood,
and Tualatin, the communities of Durham and King
City, and portions of Clackamas and Multnomah
Counties.
The facility provides tertiary treatment through
November, phosphorous and ammonia are removed
using biological nutrient methods along with the
application of alum and lime. Sludge is
thickened, anaerobically digested, dewatered with
the use of polymer and transported to Central
Oregon for application on arid farmland.
This year we anticipate more local land
application of our biosolids, which will result
in considerable savings over hauls to Central
Oregon.
The successful compliance with this facility's
permit is accomplished through monitoring,
testing, evaluating and adjusting of the process
parameters 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
