Plant/Process Description:
The Drake Water Reclamation Facility, located on the east end of Drake Road, is designed for an average daily flow of 23 million gallons and a maximum-day flow of 27.3 million gallons. Preliminary, primary, intermediate and secondary treatment are used at the facility.

All solids digestion and dewatering for the Drake and Mulberry facilities is performed at the Drake facility using anaerobic digestion and belt filter presses. These processes enhance the handling and disposal of biosolids. After disinfection, the effluent is mainly discharged to Fossil Creek Ditch.

The City has a water reuse agreement with Platte River Power Authority which allows Platte River Power Authority to pump up to 1.4 billion gallons of treated wastewater annually. The water is piped 22 miles north of Fort Collins to be used as a coolant at the Rawhide power plant. In return, Platte River Power Authority provides the City with an equal amount of water rights, enough to provide drinking water for more than 12,000 people.
