Plant/Process Description:
1.5 MGD design flow treated in a "Sheaffer
System," a patented, lagoon-based process using
advanced aeration and anaerobic digestion in a
lagoon environment. Additional, final treatment
of disc media filtration and U.V. disinfection.
All of the treated wastewater is reused for
irrigation of open space and farmland. Winter
storage capacity of 150 days is provided.

Directions:
Approximately 60 miles west of downtown Chicago. Exit I-88 at Peace Road. Turn right onto Peace Road, right on IL Route 38, left at Somonauk Road, right at North Avenue. The treatment plant is approximately 1.5 miles east of Somonauk Road off of North Avenue. Turn right at the plant entrance drive.
