August's winner, Rolando Rodriguez.
Jacksonville Beach, FL -- We are pleased to announce that Rolando Rodriguez's entry, Harlingen WaterWorks - Wastewater Treatment Plant #1 was drawn as the winner of August's "Win a iPod Nano" contest. One factor in his win is that he added 3 of the 13 plants that entered the contest, all from the Harlingen WaterWorks system.

Rolando is a Pretreatment Inspector in Harlingen, TX, and has worked there for the past 7 years. Before that, he worked for an environmental consulting firm as an Environmental Technician. Mr. Rodriquez has a total of 16 years experience in water and wastewater in various positions including a Surface Water Operator, Wastewater Operator, and Wastewater Laboratory Chemist.

When told of his win, Rolando said, "Thanks for the great news, I guess persistence pays off." refering to an earlier entry in the June contest he had made. Rolando has chosen the Amazon Gift Certificate, when asked why he said, "I wanted the iPod but my wife would really like a widescreen monitor so..."

Harlingen WaterWorks - Wastewater Treatment Plant #1

Wastewater Treatment Plant #1 has a capacity of 6.0 MGD. WWTP #1 is located on the heart of the City of Harlingen and receives domestic waste. It consists of a primary clarifier, and activated sludge aeration basin and 2 final clarifiers. The discharge from this plant goes into the Arroyo Colorado.

Here is a link to the plant's listing in our Water and Wastewater Plants Directory:

Thanks for Entering

We had 13 entries that qualified for August's contest. We had listings from such exotic locales as Vietnam, British West Indies and India. Quite a range of plant sizes and types too, both municipal and industrial plants.
