Air-Powered Pump Beats the 'Pump Eaters'

ANN ARBOR, MI -- Pumping to control landfill leachate and methane gas condensate or to recover contaminated ground water for environmental remediation is not a job for everyday submersible pumps. Ordinary electric submersible pumps do a great job at what they are designed for - pumping cool, clean water.

Environmental pumping sites are crawling with "pump eaters" - harsh acids and corrosive chemicals, aggressive solvents, flammable and explosive hydrocarbons, high temperatures and viscosities, heavy loads of silt and suspended solids, dissolved gases, foams and emulsions... plus ever-changing conditions of depth, flow rate and discharge head.

Under extreme pumping conditions like these, standard water pumps and even expensive special-duty electric submersible pumps may fail quickly and not be covered by their warranty. AutoPump(R) air-powered automatic pumps from QED were designed and developed to provide years of service in the most challenging conditions, with the bonus of built-in level control.

Experienced consulting engineers, landfill operators and environmental cleanup project managers know they can eliminate pump replacement as a budget item and drastically reduce downtime and maintenance costs by specifying air-powered automatic pumps from QED.

According to QED vice president David Mioduszewski, the company has incorporated numerous advances in design and materials into its air-powered submersible pumps since 1982.

"Individually, changes such as non-fouling ball check valves, high-clearance flow passages, and built-in level control make incremental improvements," said Mioduszewski. "Taken together, they offer quantum leaps in performance compared to the inherent limitations of electric submersible pump operation."

About QED Environmental Systems

QED has been a leading manufacturer of environmental monitoring and remediation equipment since 1982. The company's product offerings include water treatment equipment; air-powered environmental pumps for groundwater remediation, groundwater sampling, landfill leachate & methane condensate pumping; and wireless remote data collection systems.
