Hayden, ID -- Blue Water Technologies, Inc. announced today they have been selected as the exclusive distributor in the United States for the Salsnes Filter. Salsnes, a 15-year old company headquartered in Norway, has hundreds of installations around the world. Blue Water will roll out four pilot units this year.
The Salsnes Filter is an exciting new product for primary treatment in a wastewater plant. The filter removes 60% TSS and 30% BOD. This system has a very small footprint and is easy to install and operate. The filter system solves a critical problem in the wastewater industry, increasing capacity. The capital and operation costs of the filter are extremely attractive in comparison to other options for increasing a treatment plant’s capacity.
Primary treatment system
The Salsnes filters provide superior separation at the start of the plant. The design came about as a result of a goal to find dependable and cost efficient technologies that fulfilled the stringent European Union criteria for primary treatment. The primary treatment requirements are at least 20% removal of organic matter (measured as BOD) and 50% removal of suspended solids (SS). In the end, the Salsnes Filter was the only system to accomplish this feat.
When a Salsnes system is implemented in an existing wastewater treatment plant, the system removes 60% of the solids in primary treatment. In general, this allows the rest of the plant to handle more wastewater in its various treatment systems, increasing plant capacity.
