Hotel uses Hydac Backflush Filtration

Bethlehem, PA -- Not having water supply for a 334 guest room and convention center hotel has a negative impact on customer relations. The Marriott Hotel and Resort located in The Woodlands, Texas understands the effect it has on their customers and profitability.

The Woodlands Marriott Resort and Convention Center was built back in 2002. At that time, the last thing taken into consideration would be water contamination from their domestic water source. Over years of operation, evidence of elevated levels of sand ingression was coming from the water authority. This unforeseen contamination began to cause centrifugal pump impellers to wear out prematurely and the copper piping eroded due to the severe contaminated flows. Marriott Hotel was now faced with yearly unscheduled pump outages, resulting in customers without water, and increased maintenance costs.

Hydac proposed a solution with their Automatic Backflush Filter as a first line of defense against the fine sand contamination. A Hydac RF3-0 Stainless Steel Backflush System was installed to prefilter the feeding water supply for the hotel and resort to extend the service life of the hotel feed pump system.

As a result, the Marriott Hotel and Convention Center is now able to realize clean fresh domestic city water. The Hydac Automatic Backflush Filter System improves the quality and taste of the water. The Hotels’ Director of Engineering, Mr. Kirby O’Gara has stated that the Hydac Filtering System will save the Marriott Resort 100’s of thousands of dollars in material and maintenance costs by eliminating premature failures in their equipment and piping from the fine sand particles.

Mr. O’Gara emphasized that the most important result is that they will improve customer satisfaction with clean fresh uninterrupted water supply to their guests.

In return, The Woodlands Marriott Hotel and Convention Center will see more return on their money to their bottom line. The Hydac Automatic Backflush Filtering System improved the quality of the supplied water, reduced component failures, improved customer satisfaction and most important, increased annual profitability for the resort.
