Erlangen, Germany -- Siemens announced the acquisition of the German company SG Wasseraufbereitung und Regenerierstation GmbH (SG Water). The Hamburg-based supplier specializes in water treatment solutions for laboratories and industrial organizations.

SG Water’s electro-deionization systems and reverse osmosis technology for laboratory and industrial applications will further strengthen the portfolio of Siemens Water Technologies, a Business Unit of Siemens’ Industry Solutions Division. SG Water employees roughly 60 staff members at two locations in Barsbüttel near Hamburg and Haimhausen near Munich.

SG Water can look back on more than 30 years of experience in developing, producing and selling high-purity water products and systems for laboratories and industry around the world.

"The solutions of SG Water will complement especially our water treatment product portfolio in the USA", says Dave Spyker, Executive Vice President of the Industry Segment for Siemens Water Technologies. "More than half of SG Water’s turnover is generated outside Germany in countries such as the USA, Ireland, the UK and China."

Spyker continues, "The acquisition is about strengthening our portfolio and our service business as well as expanding our international footprint in the high-purity water solutions market."

The hitherto privately owned SG Water will continue to operate under the same name, but with the addition of “A Siemens Company.”
