Columbus, OH -- Muskingum County Ohio sewer department replaces decomposing precast concrete manhole with Tegra™ HDPE Manhole distributed by Flow-Liner® Systems, Ltd.

Location: King Arthur Drive; residential housing area
Circumstance: Muskingum County Engineers contacted us with an issue concerning the deteriorated condition of manholes in a 1970’s residential development. The constant presence of hydrogen sulfide caused severe corrosion of the concrete manhole.
Assessment: Flow-Liner, a leader in providing innovative products to the municipal infrastructure industry, worked with the Muskingum County Sewer Dept. on a pilot installation of a HDPE Tegra manhole in 2006. Tegra’s have a 50+ year minimum life expectancy and are constructed from HDPE, which is resistant to harsh sewer environments including exposure to hydrogen sulfide gas (H2S).
Result: Four years later, by participating in Flow-Liner’s pilot installation, the County Engineers can see the advantages the Tegra manhole provides over concrete manholes including its ease of installation and resiliency to H2S gas. Hydrogen sulfide corrosion is non-existent. The only sign of the presence of hydrogen sulfide is a dusting of white residue that is purely cosmetic and harmless to the manhole.
