Technology 2005, 2nd Joint Specialty Conference for Sustainable Management of Water Quality Systems for the 21st Century
Sposored by: Water Environment Federation (WEF); European Water Association (EWA); Japan Sewage Works Association (JSWA); and the California Water Environment Association (CWEA)
Abstract Submittal Deadline: October 11, 2004
Wastewater and water systems have historically played an important role in public health and, today, the role of these systems is viewed within the context of the entire water cycle, especially in light of the increasing use of alternative water sources and water reuse. At this conference, leading engineers and scientists from all over the world will exchange the latest findings and successful case studies highlighting new technologies, novel applications of established technologies, and innovative solutions to historical operational challenges and to emerging issues. The sponsors are particularly interested in providing a forum for sharing information on state-of-the-art practices with potential applications in the United States.
The conference focus includes but is not limited to the topics listed below. Abstracts for podium and poster presentations and session proposals are invited.
· Plant design, hydraulics, and construction
· Rehabilitation and upgrading of facilities
· Wastewater treatment, including aerobic and anaerobic systems, nutrient removal, odor, and volatile organic compound control
· Solids management practices, including stabilization, dewatering, and reuse/disposal
· Technological responses to emerging contaminants of concern such as endocrine disruptors
· Evolving practices for addressing trace metals and inorganics of significance to public or environmental health
· New technologies for pretreatment and pollution prevention
· Membrane technologies for water and wastewater treatment and desalination
· Pathogen issues and disinfection technologies
· Water reclamation and potable/nonpotable reuse
· Recent developments in monitoring and detection
· Corrosion control and innovation in materials and coatings
· Technologies for use in rural and developing locations
· Energy-efficient/alternative energy-based technologies and systems
· Emerging technologies and research studies
· Instrumentation and control systems
