LONG BEACH, CA -- Earth Tech, a business unit of Tyco Engineered Products & Services, and global provider of consulting, engineering and construction services, has been awarded a US $12 million (CAN $15 million) contract to design and provide construction management services for new odor control systems at the largest secondary wastewater treatment plant in Canada.

Earth Tech, in collaboration with Stantec Consulting, will design and oversee the construction of a central air collection and treatment system for the Ashbridges Bay Treatment Plant in Toronto, Ontario. In addition, several smaller systems will be constructed for the sewage pumping stations that serve the facility, which is one of the nation's oldest treatment plants. The project is part of a US $106.5 million (CAN $130 million) capital improvement program.

"One of the biggest concerns facing all cities is how to maintain and expand aging treatment facilities to keep pace with increasing demands and more stringent regulations," said Rob Andrews, managing director of Earth Tech's Canadian Operations. "With this new assignment for Ashbridges, we will leverage our global resources to continue to help Toronto meet its wastewater and environmental management needs."

Under a previous contract, Earth Tech designed and built a major biosolids loading and odor control facility at the Ashbridges Bay Treatment Plant as part of the Toronto's efforts to end sludge incineration and improve odor control at the facility.
