Wallingford, UK -- Wallingford Software announces today the release of Version 7.0 of InfoWorks, the leading software for modeling infrastructure planning and operational management in water distribution and supply, wastewater management and sewerage provision, river management and coastal engineering. Version 7.0, released as scheduled, is the second new InfoWorks release of 2005, confirming that Wallingford Software continues to meet the most aggressive product development schedule in the industry.

InfoWorks WS, covering water distribution and supply, features for the first time an Automated Pump Scheduler. Based on genetic algorithm optimization, the Scheduler includes comprehensive power tariffs modeling to enable the optimization of energy costs. In addition to the Pump Scheduler, InfoWorks WS v7.0 will provide clients with a further 17 new features and improvements. For example, the already very popular Critical Link Analysis tool has been further developed to run against large networks of more than 50,000 links that InfoWorks routinely models.

InfoWorks CS V7.0, addressing wastewater management and sewerage provision, offers even faster run-times than previous versions. Already the fastest engine in the industry providing dynamic modeling, the increased speed will improve the productivity of modelers with no compromise of the well-known stability of the calculation process. Included among many other enhancements is the ability to model reverse flow in culverts, reflecting the reality of how culverts perform.

InfoWorks RS, for simulating flows in rivers, in channels and on floodplains, headlines enhancements to water quality modeling and improvements to long section analysis amongst many other developments throughout the software. Water quality modeling in Version 7.0 incorporates the water quality processes of Adsorbed Phosphorus, Benthic Algae, Macrophytes, Phytoplankton, Silicate and effects of Solar Radiation. Improvements to long section analysis will enable to users to use functions such as Plot Initial Conditions, Plot Results from Multiple Simulations, use Point and Click Queries and Export to AutoCAD.

Paul Banfield, Sales Director of Wallingford Software, explained the rationale of releasing two full new versions of each Wallingford Software product each year. “Our release schedule is demanding – there are over fifty enhancements in Version 7.0, released only six months after Version 6.5. We achieve this year after year because we have the largest development team in the industry. The result is that the product keeps up with, and often ahead of, the needs of our users. For example, as well as the features that are specific to each application area, this release offers developments to our popular Open Data Import Centre, which provides easy linking with the software environment within which models are developed and used.

“We consult our users regularly on product enhancements. They recognize that it is the frequency of our releases that enables them to continue to improve their personal productivity as well as the accuracy and value of their models.”
