Washington, DC -- Many of the world's top minds in the field of water desalination will gather May 7-9 in Honolulu, Hawaii, to explore emerging technologies and share their desalination experiences at the first AWWA Desalination Symposium.
The symposium, which takes place on the first two days of Drinking Water Week 2006 (May 7-13), will cover desalination principles and practices, document current industry practice, identify water quality considerations and provide case studies from international and domestic water purveyors.
"Desalination technology is an important component in the landscape of total water management," said Jack W. Hoffbuhr, AWWA executive director. "It's fitting that the first AWWA Desalination Symposium takes place during Drinking Water Week, when we're all reminded of the extraordinary value of water in our everyday life. Technologies like desalination can help ease water supply challenges in both coastal and inland communities and make us all better stewards of our precious water resources."
The symposium will draw manufacturers, scientists, academicians, consultants, regulators and water suppliers who will learn about global desalination perspectives, membrane processes, current research, project development costs and financing and more.
