Baxter Springs, KS -- ATEC Steel a leading manufacturer of field-weld storage tanks announces continued expansion at their Baxter Springs, KS facility. A new stainless steel line will be installed within the next 60 days to service the increased demand for field-weld stainless tanks.

The ATEC facility is recognized in the industry as a “world class” manufacturing facility for knocked-down, high quality steel fabrication. The facility is 100,000 square feet and utilizes the latest state-of-the-art fabrication equipment. They specialize in flat bottom and hopper bottom tanks as well as specialized fabrication for the industrial, petroleum and power industries.

“The new stainless line will allow us to serve a growing demand for field-weld stainless tanks,” stated Noel Garrett, ATEC President and General Manager. The stainless field-weld market is currently being driven by an unprecedented number of ethanol plants under construction.

Garret continues, “When evaluating our selection of equipment we decided to utilize the latest in computerized technology available for squaring and rolling of materials. No other domestic storage tank facility has this type of technology. We have brought precision tolerances to a new level in this industry.”

In addition to fabrication capabilities, ATEC Steel also has the ability to apply environmentally controlled shop-applied linings and coatings, reducing associated problems with field applied systems.

“The right equipment and the best, most experienced personnel have allowed us to set a new benchmark of performance in field-weld tank supply,” states Garrett. It is estimated that a minimum of 30 new jobs will be created at the Baxter Springs facility.
