Denton, TX -- Entech Design, Inc. introduces its new media expansion and integral backwash turbidity sensor. Since 2000, Expansion Pro Analyzer 2000 (EPA 2000) has helped municipal water/wastewater plants optimize media expansion levels. The analyzer uses acoustic sensing technology to measure media expansion during filter backwash, while measuring media level and loss while the filter is online.
Now, Entech Design combines reliable 90° scattered light turbidity in a dual purpose sensor. It contains two independent sensors in one housing – an ultrasonic media expansion level sensor and an infrared scattered light backwash turbidity sensor. The analyzer is configured with one to four dual capability sensors for multiple filter process control.
The new EPA 2000 with backwash turbidity capability provides plants an earlier indication of when the filter is clean during backwash. This is because the turbidity sensor is located at the filter, not a few minutes downstream from the backwash process.
By having the ability to shut the backwash off earlier, plants can save money and precious water. The combined media expansion level and turbidity sensor can help plants optimize their media expansion levels and backwash sequence.
