Wilmington, MA -- Koch Membrane Systems, Inc. (KMS), a world-class developer and manufacturer of innovative membrane filtration and separation systems, offers its FLUID SYSTEMS® TFC®-SR®2 spiral nanofiltration (NF) element. The SR2 membrane from KMS significantly lowers operating costs for a wide variety of selective rejection applications, including water softening, wastewater BOD and hardness reduction, and wastewater recovery.

The SR2 membrane is highly energy efficient and capable of producing more water per square meter of membrane surface area than competitive products. Hardness rejection is typically 95 percent and organic rejection exceeds 90 percent for organics with molecular weight in the range of 400 – 600 daltons.

The SR2 element softens incoming water and retains low molecular weight organics, while allowing monovalent salts to pass through the membrane. This nanofiltration membrane is capable of achieving separations not possible with other technologies. In water treatment applications, the SR2 element softens without the need for disposing of regeneration solutions and it eliminates contaminants without the need to process large volumes of sludge or wasted regenerants.

FLUID SYSTEMS TFC-SR2 membranes are available in 4-inch and 8-inch diameters in the standard 40-inch length or in Magnum® elements which are 60-inches long, all with molecular weight cutoffs of 800 to 1,000 daltons. The SR2 spiral nanofiltration element has been incorporated into ROPRO® system design software by KMS.

KMS also develops its own membrane cleaners and antiscalants. All KMS chemical formulations are carefully reviewed by its process engineers and membrane and polymer scientists to ensure that they will provide the maximum performance benefits, including physical and chemical compatibility with the membranes. KOCHKLEEN® cleaners and storage solution, and KOCHTREAT® antiscalants help prolong membrane life and reduce cleaning cycle time.
