EPA Selects Charter Members Of Its Exclusive Program, NEAT
------------------------------------------------------------

PURCHASE, N.Y., Feb. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency has recognized International Paper for
leadership and innovation in environmental management at two
of its U.S. paper mills. The company's Androscoggin Mill in
Jay, Maine, and its Mansfield, La., Mill, were recently
inducted as charter members in the EPA National Environmental
Achievement Track (NEAT).

The EPA recently accepted 225 corporations and individual
facilities as charter members of the NEAT program. The
Achievement Track is the first level of the EPA's new National
Environmental Performance Track, a program that recognizes and
rewards American businesses for doing more than the law
requires to protect the nation's air, water and land.

"Once again, our employees' innovative efforts and leadership
have rewarded our company with membership into an exclusive
program," said Tom Jorling, IP's vice president of environmental
affairs. "We are pleased that International Paper's commitment
to environmental excellence has been recognized by the EPA."

EPA launched the national program based on its success with
several state and local programs. These programs work with
businesses, communities and environmental groups to partner
innovations in environmental management with strategic business
opportunities.

Since 1997, the Androscoggin Mill has participated in StarTrack,
an EPA Region 1 program. Facilities participating in StarTrack
conduct annual compliance and environmental management system
audits, in addition to having their environmental activities
reviewed and certified by an independent third-party. The mill,
in collaboration with EPA, the Maine Department of Environmental
Protection and the Town of Jay, signed two innovative agreements
to use new technology to reduce and control emissions. The
Governor of the State of Maine recognized the employees of the
mill with seven awards for pollution prevention and environmental
leadership.

The EPA also recognized the Mansfield Mill in its Region 6 by
inducting the site into the NEAT program. This recognition
resulted from the mill's completion of several forward-thinking
environmental projects including the use of constructed wetlands
to treat wastewater and prevent environmental impact. The mill,
a two-time winner of the Louisiana Governor's Environmental
Achievement Award for Pollution Prevention, also achieved "Star
Among Stars" status in the Occupational Health and Safety
Administration's Voluntary Protection Program.

The EPA created the NEAT program not only to recognize
environmental leadership, but to motivate other companies and
facilities to achieve similar improvements and complement its
existing regulatory activities.

East Bay MUD Installs Metso/IndX System,Improve Water Quality
------------------------------------------------------------

OAKLAND, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 15, 2001--Metso
Automation (formerly known as Neles Automation) and IndX
Software Corp. today announced that the East Bay Municipal
Utility District (EBMUD) has selected and installed insight@WEB
at its headquarters in Oakland.

EBMUD is a publicly owned utility that provides water and
wastewater treatment in the San Francisco Bay area. insight@WEB,
which is powered by IndX technology, gathers and combines data
from the water side SCADA process archive and Oracle Enterprise
Database to provide EBMUD management and staff with the ability
to monitor water conditions in real-time. Full implementation
of the insight@WEB solution is anticipated following completion
of the initial project.

"I saw a demo of insight@WEB early last year and caught the
vision of providing an `enterprise dashboard' with an
easy-to-use browser interface for management and staff," said
Kevin Wong of EBMUD, the "enterprise dashboard" project
manager. "Real-time data with historical trending and data
from our backend systems can be combined and presented
graphically to casual users."

Using insight@WEB, EBMUD's staff and management can access
live data and analysis, including real-time status, from
Oracle. The system combines the Oracle data with real-time
and historical information from EBMUD's AspenTech InfoPlus.21
historian to enable in-depth analysis of both real-time and
historical conditions.

Metso Automation is also upgrading EBMUD's existing SCADA
system to a distributed OASyS SCADA system. As part of this
project, Metso has developed the connectors that will link
the new SCADA system to insight@WEB and provide a layer of
operations intelligence.

Powered by technology developed by IndX Software, insight@WEB
uses the latest Web technologies to provide a user-specific
portal for real-time monitoring, reporting and analysis of
enterprise and industry information. This improvement in
delivery of information allows users from all disciplines
-- from the control center to the trading floor -- to make
informed urgent business decisions as required, particularly
important in competitive environments.

About East Bay MUD

East Bay MUD supplies water and provides wastewater treatment
for parts of Alameda and Contra Costa counties on the eastern
side of San Francisco Bay in Northern California.
Approximately 1.2 million people are served by EBMUD's
water system in a 325-square-mile area extending from
Crockett on the north, southward to San Lorenzo (encompassing
the major cities of Oakland and Berkeley), eastward from
San Francisco Bay to Walnut Creek and south through the
San Ramon Valley.

Orange Co. Water District Receives Grant for Membrane Research
------------------------------------------------------------

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 20, 2001--The
Orange County Water District (OCWD) was recently awarded a
$300,000 grant from the California Energy Commission (CEC)
to be used for water purification membrane testing and research.

Microfiltration and reverse osmosis membranes are the future
of the water purification industry. During 2001, OCWD's Water
Resources and Technology Department, in conjunction with
members of the Desalination Research Innovation Partnership,
will apply this grant toward three membrane-related research
projects.

OCWD will evaluate the performance of reverse osmosis membranes,
evaluate technologies being used for microfiltration and
reverse osmosis membrane pre-treatment, and create a membrane
performance database to compare with other membrane
performance systems being used by the Desalination Research
Innovation Partnership.

"This grant will allow OCWD to conduct research required to
develop new, higher-quality and longer-lasting reverse
osmosis membranes and water pretreatment processes," said
OCWD Board President Jerry A. King. "Results of these tests
will provide new technology for OCWD and other organizations
to use in their water quality testing throughout California
and the world."

The Desalination Research Innovation Partnership is made up
of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California,
San Diego County Water Authority, West and Central Basin
Water District, University of California at Riverside, Santa
Clara County Water District, East Bay Municipal Water
District, Alameda County Water Agency and Sonoma County
Water Agency. Each of these organizations will provide
membrane samples to be used in the research funded by the
CEC and testing will be performed in the research laboratory
at OCWD.

OCWD has a history of research in water quality and health
benefits. For more than 25 years, OCWD has sampled and
tested the groundwater to ensure high quality water is being
provided to north and central Orange County cities. The OCWD
Water Resources & Technology Department conducts basic and
applied microbiological research leading to the development
of new, more effective technologies to benefit OCWD's
groundwater and supply programs.

The Orange County Water District is a special water agency
created by the California Legislature in 1933 to maintain
and manage the huge groundwater basin under northern Orange
County. The groundwater basin managed by OCWD supplies
75% of the water needs to more than 2 million residents
in the cities of Anaheim, Buena Park, Cypress, Costa Mesa,
Fountain Valley, Fullerton, Garden Grove, Huntington Beach,
Irvine, La Palma, Los Alamitos, Newport Beach, Orange,
Placentia, Santa Ana, Seal Beach, Stanton, Tustin, Villa
Park, Westminster and Yorba Linda. To learn more, log onto

announce the amiable separation of their business relationship
as of December 1, 2000. Both organizations will continue to

customers for support, service, projects and future endeavors.

"Landia will continue to be present in the U.S. market and

in the near future," said Poul Hjulmand, managing director
of Landia A/S.

"For many years USFilter’s Kruger Products has shared an
excellent working relationship with Landia A/S. We wish
Landia good luck in the organization’s future endeavors
and will continue to work with Landia to support existing
customer relationships," said Terry Mah, vice president
and general manager of USFilter’s Kruger Products.

submersible pump and mixer equipment. As one of the fastest
growing companies in Denmark, Landia exports products to
