Cincinnati Chooses Indus International for EAM
------------------------------------------------------------
SAN FRANCISCO, July 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Indus International,
a provider of enterprise asset management (EAM) solutions
for capital-asset intensive companies, has been selected by
Greater Cincinnati (Ohio) Water Works (GCWW) to provide work
management, supply chain and mobile computing solutions.
GCWW is among the largest water utilities in the country and
has been recognized as an innovator and role model in water
treatment, engineering and use of technology.
"GCWW is committed to achieving our goal of a plentiful
supply of high-quality water and outstanding customer
service," said David Rager, GCWW director. "To reach these
goals we must be able to track all aspects of our work in
progress, materials on hand and the operating and financial
status of all our assets. We selected Indus over other EAM
options because of their successful track record with
comprehensive projects and ability to deliver a complete
solution."
Over the next two years, new regulations will require water
utilities across the US to adhere to stricter asset
tracking and depreciation rules. With unparalleled
experience in working with regulated industries, Indus
has developed solutions that integrate comprehensive work
management with asset tracking to support clients in
compliance with regulatory issues while enabling increased
reliability and customer service.
The GCWW department serves about 90 percent of the people
in Hamilton County and sections of Butler and Warren
counties in southwest Ohio. In addition the utility has
contracts to begin serving counties in Northern Kentucky
by 2003.

SewerCAD to be Showcased at WEFTEC Show
------------------------------------------------------------
Waterbury, CT. - Haestad Methods, the world leader in the
development and distribution of civil engineering software,
will be showcasing SewerCAD®, the popular sanitary sewer
modeling software program, at the WEFTEC show in October.
The SewerCAD model empowers engineers to simulate the hydraulic
response of sanitary sewer systems, including gravity collection,
pressure force mains, flow diversions, and overflows.
SewerCAD includes intuitive and powerful tools for every step
of the process, from model creation and load development to
extended period simulations (EPS's) and comprehensive
"what-if?"
scenario management.
SewerCAD even has the ability to automatically size and locate
pipes and structures, and perform detailed cost breakdowns
and reports for proposed improvements.
SewerCAD is the first and only model to offer true
enterprise-wide data-sharing, with multiple graphical user
interfaces (GUI's) and amazing database, spreadsheet, CAD,
and GIS faculties. SewerCAD's GUI's include Haestad Methods'
own Stand-Alone Windows editor, AutoCAD®, ArcInfo® and ArcView®;
in fact, SewerCAD's CAD and GIS interfaces are so tightly
integrated that you can take full advantage of their native
commands and extensions to get the most out of their TIN's,
coordinate-geometry, network algorithms, and more.

H2OChem.com Builds Network of Water Treatment Consultants
------------------------------------------------------------
Madison, WI -- H2OChem.com, the leading online resource for
end users of water treatment products, today announced they
intend to build a network of independent water treatment
consultants.
This network of independent consultants is intended to
provide local, on-site support to end users of water
treatment products as required. By providing a searchable
database, H2OChem.com is providing customers with access
to local assistance when they choose to purchase these
services.
"H2OChem.com has put much of the application knowledge
required for water treatment on our web site" stated Anne
Wanamaker. "However, we recognize that there will always
be times that local consulting is required. By providing
a list of independent consultants we are allowing the
customer to decide how much service they require, and
pay only for what they need. This unbundling of goods
and services provides the customer with a cost reduction
and access to unbiased consulting."
Until the registration engine is complete, interested
consultants should send an e-mail to:
mailto:pjohnson@h2ochem.com
outlining their capabilities, fee schedule and location.
H2OChem.com was started in December of 1999 by water
treatment professionals, and has become the online
resource for end users of water treatment products.
Combining decades of water treatment experience with
newly developed information technologies, the company
empowers water treatment professionals to reduce their
treatment costs and improve the efficiency of their
plant operations.

Met-Pro's Duall Division to Supply Florida Water Plants
------------------------------------------------------------
HARLEYSVILLE, Pa., July 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Met-Pro Corporation's
Duall division in Owosso, Mich., will supply two orders for
degasification systems for municipal water treatment plants
in Florida in fourth-quarter 2000.
The project will cost about $650,000, said William L. Kacin,
chairman and CEO of the Duall division. Duall's systems use
fiberglass with an internal polyvinyl chloride liner for
corrosion resistance and structural integrity.
Using a series of proprietary troughs and filters, Duall
degasifiers remove volatile organic compounds such as
hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide from groundwater. After
decontamination, the groundwater is pumped to the municipal
water facility where it receives additional treatment prior
to becoming suitable for drinking water.
Met-Pro Corporation's products include air and water
pollution control systems; fume scrubbers and odor control
equipment; fluid handling equipment for corrosive, abrasive
and high temperature liquids; and filter products for
drinking water.

Mr. Venkatesan needs help with high suspended solids
:
My company (stainless steel manufacturing plant) is presently
experiencing a problem of very high suspended solids in their
open circuit water recirculation system. The system was
designed to have <5 ppm initially, and now readings of 60 ppm
and over is common.
What could be the blatent causes of this, and how can we
reduce the suspended solids count without, be it chemically
or mechanically? The flow rate may have increased since
inception, how can we increase retention time in the
settlers without affecting flow rate?
Do you think it will reduce the suspended solids count
significantly? Any information would be appreciated.

This week's photo shows the microfiltration part of a 2.5 m3/hr
waste water treatment plant coupling proprietary physical
chemistry with microfiltration. The plant has been installed
at one of the factories of the SWATCH Group in Switzerland
and treats waste water coming from the surface treatment and
vibro-polishing activities. It is equipped with a automatic
back flush system using the filtrate, the membrane surface
is 12 m2.
