Largest UV Disinfection System For U.S. Drinking Water
------------------------------------------------------------
PITTSBURGH, June 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Calgon Carbon Corporation
(NYSE: CCC) announced today that it has been awarded a contract
from West View Water Authority in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to
provide a Sentinel(TM) UV disinfection system for disinfection
of drinking water. The contract includes a ten-year service
agreement under which Calgon Carbon will provide complete
service and maintenance of the Sentinel(TM) system. This will
be the largest UV disinfection system in the United States for
municipal drinking water treatment and the first of its kind
in Pennsylvania for surface water treatment. The new Sentinel
system will treat up to 40 million gallons of water per day,
protecting approximately 200,000 people in Western Pennsylvania
from cryptosporidium (crypto).
The Sentinel(TM) UV disinfection system provides a cost-effective
barrier against viruses, bacteria, and parasites such as crypto
at a fraction of the cost of other treatment methods. Also,
Sentinel(TM) is an environmentally safe technology, since it
does not produce disinfection by-products. Crypto, a microscopic
parasite found in almost all surface waters, is highly resistant
to traditional treatment methods such as chlorination. When
ingested, it can cause cryptosporidiosis, an illness characterized
by severe abdominal cramps and diarrhea. In individuals with
suppressed immune systems, cryptosporidiosis can be fatal.
Commenting on the contract, Dan Daugherty, executive director
of West View Water Authority said, "The West View Water
Authority's
Board of Directors has taken a leadership role in Pennsylvania by
choosing to provide its customers with an additional water treatment
method that is not mandated by law. Their proactive stance
demonstrates their continued commitment to implement
state-of-the-art
technology at the plant, and provide the safest, highest-quality
drinking water to their customers."
Bob O'Brien, senior vice president of Calgon Carbon Corporation,
commented, "Since Calgon Carbon is headquartered in Pittsburgh,
we take particular pride in having been selected by West View
Water to provide a water treatment system that will protect our
neighbors in 28 communities." He added, "This contract
strengthens our leadership position in the use of UV technology
for disinfection of drinking water. Also, the service contract
is consistent with our long-term strategy to transform Calgon
Carbon from a product to a service company."

Stansbury to Acquire Garnet Mining Operation
------------------------------------------------------------
DENVER, June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Stansbury Holdings Corp. will
acquire Sweetwater Garnet Inc., an indirect subsidiary of
Canada's Absolut Resources Corp., in a stock swap. The purchase
is subject to the approval of the boards of both Stansbury
and Absolut and other approvals.
Closing is targeted for Aug. 1, and will allow Stansbury to
begin operating the Garnet mine and mills under contract to
Sweetwater Garnet. The site is valued at CAN $7 million.
The garnet facilities have a capacity of about 12,000 tons/year
of finished garnet, which has been sold to the abrasives and
water treatment industries. With improvements, the mine and
two mills can be increased to 20,000 tons/year, which
represents 20 percent of current worldwide demand. Industrial
grade garnet, used in the abrasives industry, and in
water-jet cutting and water treatment facilities, typically
sells at $180-$225/ton, and the Sweetwater site produces
the full range of sizes used in the industry.
Under the current agreement, Stansbury will issue 12,240,000
shares of its common stock to Absolute Resources in exchange
for 100 percent issued and outstanding shares of Sweetwater
Garnet Inc. In addition, Stansbury will retire $1 million
of Sweetwater debt, with 3 million shares of its common
stock and a production royalty, making Sweetwater Garnet
essentially debt-free.

H2OChem.com’s Technical Tip of the Week
------------------------------------------------------------
SAVE MONEY ON REMOVAL OF SOLUBLE METALS!
In many wastewater systems removal of soluble metals is an
important consideration. This week's tip discusses the
solubility of various metals. Utilizing the solubility chart
included you will be able to operate your wastewater facility
to minimize metal levels discharged, and perhaps eliminate
the need for costly "polishing" products.

VitriSeal to Acquire Distech, Test Filtering Process
------------------------------------------------------------
DRAPER, Utah, June 26 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- VitriSeal Inc. says
it plans to acquire all shares of Distech Limited, a New
Zealand corporation with offices in Auckland, New Zealand and
a U.S. subsidiary in Redwood City, Calif.
The terms of the letter of agreement dictates the issuance of
16.2 million shares of VitriSeal's common stock for the Distech
shares. Distech has developed state-of-the-art water
distillation equipment called the "V-Still," which
incorporates
patented vacuum mechanical vapor recompression (VMVR)
technology that combines the benefits of vacuum distillation
for low-temperature evaporation and vapor recompression for
efficient recycling of heat energy. The system produces high
purity water in commercial quantities,
Distech says, due to components including automatic clean-in-place,
remote system management over telecommunications links, minimal
water pre-treatment, compact size and small foot print and
competitive pricing.
VitriSeal says the addition of the Distech technology with
the recently acquired Thermoflow Corp. and Liquitek Corp.
technologies for antifreeze recycling and industrial wastewater
treatment enables the company to use technologies it can
customize to solve various liquid separation and purification
problems, enhancing its ability to provide industrial
wastewater, drinking water, ultra pure water, and desalination
solutions.
During due-diligence, the company and Distech have agreed
to undertake a joint effort for the purposes of developing
a D-3000 prototype V-Still with the ability to process
3,000 gals/hour of water, implementing a trial program for
testing V-Stills for applications, including the separation
and recovery of gasoline additive methyl tertiary butyl
ether (MTBE) from several water sources, including
contaminated drinking water.
At its Auckland facility, Distech has successfully separated
and recovered MTBE from contaminated drinking water,
demonstrating the capability of the V-Still to reduce the
MTBE content to below five parts per billion, the allowable
standard for drinking water, and recovering the MTBE for
destruction.
Used as an octane enhancer for reformulated gasoline to meet
standards imposed by the Clean Air Act of 1990, MTBE has
recently gained nationwide attention as a serious threat
to municipal drinking water sources, resulting in the
closing of wells in various California communities because
of MTBE contamination. The Thermoflow technology is
capable of economically treating/recycling many other
contaminated liquids, including wastewater.
The company's Liquitek subsidiary has licensed and leased
an oily wastewater treatment system to Hawaii's largest
recycling company. Liquitek has also developed a proprietary
system for recycling carwash wastewater and installed
a test system in Hiroshima, Japan. The company plans
to introduce a similar system in the United States upon
completion of its Japanese testing.

Cat Launches Construction of New Cogeneration Plant
------------------------------------------------------------
PEORIA, Ill., /PRNewswire/ -- A Caterpillar 301.5 Hydraulic
Excavator and a Caterpillar 416C Backhoe Loader today kicked
off construction of the AES Medina Valley Cogeneration Plant
near Mossville, Illinois.
The $51 million, 47 megawatt plant will produce low-cost,
environmentally friendly electricity and steam heat for
Caterpillar's Performance Engine Products Division (PEPD)
plant in Mossville. It will also provide chilled water service
for the PEPD plant and electricity for Caterpillar's Mapleton
Foundry.
The cogeneration plant will be built, owned and operated by
AES Medina Valley Cogen LLC. The project was developed by
CILCO, which is also an AES company. Caterpillar intends to
use the cogeneration plant, which features several Caterpillar
products, as a marketing showcase.
The new cogeneration plant will replace four coal-fired boilers
and two older gas boilers currently in use. The boilers,
initially constructed in the late 1950s and early 1970s, burn
high sulfur Illinois coal and are equipped with sulfur dioxide
scrubbers. With the new high efficiency Solar turbines, the
total amount of air pollutants discharged will be reduced
significantly. The new plant will control nitrogen oxide
emissions (NOx) through the use of low NOx burners. It will
control carbon monoxide emissions (CO) through use
of catalytic converters.

Mr. Ramirez needs a wastewater blower system:
I am very interested on the waste water blower system you’ve
got, but I still don’t know which one is the most adequate
for my project. The project consists of a 9 CM. (cubic meters)
digester tank for wastewater by activated sludge, depth 3 mts.
As part of the process a blower is needed (with four diffuser
