Sionix Corporation Completes DAF Tank Modifications & Tests
------------------------------------------------------------
IRVINE, Calif., June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- James J. Houtz,
President of Sionix Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: SINX),
today announced that under their new management team, the
company completed DAF Tank Modifications and Tests on June
07, 2000. The DAF Tank modifications were incorporated in
the system to better "STILL" the separation tanks surface
characteristics. These modifications were completed as
scheduled. Early March marked the beginning of the final
particle removal studies using Bentonite dispersions.
"SIONIX has developed a process to optimize the coagulation
and flocculation steps for our water purification systems,"
stated Dave Lambert, Director of Research and Development.
The test media being used currently (Bentonite), most
accurately portrays the characteristics of suspended organic
and biological microbial contamination in source waters.
A complete rework of the Dissolved Air Generation System
was accomplished in April and early May with more than
satisfactory results. This resulted in a much simpler
system with overall lower costs in manufacturing, operations,
system maintenance and repair. In addition, System Controls
are significantly reduced over current methods, which create
a more cost-effective system.
Tests of our NEW FLOAT REMOVAL SYSTEM were completed the
first week of June. In addition, a UNIQUE WASTE REMOVAL
SYSTEM has been designed for this task. The production
drawings for the DAF Tank are complete and ready for release
next week. The production drawings for float removal
system, scrapper and Beach Assembly (Patent Applied For)
will also be ready for release next week.
Sionix Corporation is a developer of new concepts in
"Dissolved Air Flotation Technology" for drinking water
and wastewater treatment systems for municipalities and
industrial use. Their technology includes existing patents
with additional patents being applied for.

Next Generation Water Disinfectant
------------------------------------------------------------
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- EnviroClean
Technologies, LLC (Limited Liability Corporation),
headquartered in Lexington, NC, has developed next generation
water disinfectant products designed to replace chlorine as
a disinfectant in municipal water supplies.
Chlorine has been the antimicrobial water treatment product
of choice for years despite well-known problems ranging from
its volatility and instability to its reactivity with elements
to form carcinogenic compounds. The principal reason for
using chlorine is that it does disinfect water, and it's
cheap and readily available. It was also considered safe in
low concentrations until more recent research showed that it
reacts with organic compounds in the environment to form
carbon tetrachloride and chloroform, which are known
carcinogens. Chlorine also breaks down in the presence of
sunlight to form a gas that escapes into the upper atmosphere
and contributes to the earth's ozone depletion.
EnviroClean's water disinfectant products -- ECT-2000D for
disinfecting drinking water and ECT-2000W for treating
wastewater -- offer all the disinfecting benefits of chlorine
without the health or environmental hazards.

AK Steel Files Petition for Stay of U.S. EPA Order
------------------------------------------------------------
MIDDLETOWN, OH, June 9, 2000-AK Steel (NYSE: AKS) said today
it filed a petition for review and an emergency motion for
stay in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit of a
federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) emergency order
issued against AK Steel on Wednesday. The order contains a
provision requiring AK Steel to provide backup water supplies
and numerous other mandates for a community 20 miles
downstream of AK Steel's Butler, Pennsylvania specialty steel
plant.
The order, issued with only hours of notice to AK Steel, would
impose ambiguous, unnecessary, unreasonable and unlawful
demands under the threat of penalties of $15,000 per day
for non-compliance.
The EPA gave AK Steel only three days to submit a response to
the order, an unprecedented timeframe for the agency. On
Thursday AK Steel made a request to the EPA to stay the order
to allow the company and the EPA to meet and clarify the order
and to begin negotiations to resolve the matter quickly and
amicably. The EPA denied the request for a stay.
