O'Fallon Selects Black & Veatch for Water System Upgrade
------------------------------------------------------------

KANSAS CITY, MO (March 14, 2001) -- To maintain its momentum
as the fastest growing municipality in Missouri, the City of
O'Fallon, approximately 30 miles west of St. Louis, has awarded
Black & Veatch a contract to design new water supply system
and treatment facilities. Until now, the city has relied on
seven deep rock wells with aeration, softening, and chlorination.
By this fall, B&V will complete the design of six new wells in
an alluvial aquifer, a new 6 million gallon/day filtration plant,
a transmission main connecting the wells and the plant, and
a new 500,000-gallon finished water storage reservoir.

The new treatment plant will use reverse osmosis and
nanofiltration to soften the groundwater supply. "We chose
membrane technology for its ease of capacity expansion,
adaptation to remote operation, and resultant high water quality,
as well as the fact that it doesn't produce water-softening
residuals," said O'Fallon Project Manager Monte Ellis. "Black
& Veatch has considerable experience in applying this advanced
technology, which will enable us to comply with current and
future water quality regulations."

Construction of the $13 million project is scheduled to begin
late this year, and O'Fallon's new water system is expected to
be operational by early 2003.

Suez Creates ONDEO
------------------------------------------------------------

PARIS, March 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Suez, the world leader in
energy, water, waste management and communication services,
announced today the creation of ONDEO. The move represents
the formation of the world's strongest and most comprehensive
water solutions group, as well as a key step of an aggressive
growth strategy to increase revenues 60% between 1999 and 2004.
With annual revenues of 9.1 billion euros in 2000 ($8.5 billion),
60,000 employees and a presence in 130 countries, ONDEO offers
a full range of solutions to meet the water-related needs of
cities, consumers and industries.

To expand its already leading market share, ONDEO is implementing
a growth strategy focusing on both internal and external opportunities.
Suez has united its existing water activities -- as well as a
newly established company that provides industrial water solutions
-- under a single global brand, ONDEO. Effective today, ONDEO's
water solutions organization consists of the following companies:

-ONDEO Services -- market leader in water management services
to cities (resources, drinking water, sanitation services),
formerly operating under the company name Lyonnaise des Eaux;
-ONDEO Nalco -- market leader in water treatment and process
chemicals for industries, formerly operating under the name Nalco;
-ONDEO Degremont -- water treatment specialist and market leader
in turnkey engineering, formerly operating under the name Degremont;
-ONDEO Industrial Solutions -- a new company created to satisfy
a full range of industrial water needs.

No layoffs are expected as a result of the creation of ONDEO.
Commenting on the creation of ONDEO, Gerard Mestrallet, Chairman
and CEO of Suez, said: "The creation of ONDEO, one of Suez's core
businesses, is a major milestone in our history. We are creating
today the world's premier water solutions group whose scale, global
reach, and financial resources are without equal."

Gerard Payen, Chairman and CEO of ONDEO commented: "In ONDEO,
we have created a group possessing the expertise, financial
resources and research and development capabilities required to
provide customized solutions to our millions of customers
worldwide. We expect ONDEO to dramatically increase its market
share in the fast-growing water services industry." Gerard Payen
added: "Under one name, ONDEO, we are of one mission, which
is to be the premier provider of sustainable water-related
solutions and services worldwide, through long-term partnerships
that benefit our customers, communities, employees and the
environment."

Pentair Pumps Selected for New York City Water Treatment Project
------------------------------------------------------------

ST. PAUL, Minn., March 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Pentair (NYSE: PNR)
today announced that the Pentair Pump Group, a unit of the
company's Water Technologies segment, has received a multi-
million dollar contract for the installation of wastewater
pumping equipment slated for a major municipal treatment plant
in New York City. Engineering work on the project will begin
immediately, with delivery of the pumps expected over the course
of the next two years.

Each of the eight Fairbanks Morse brand pumps on the project
weighs over ten tons, stands more that 12 feet high, and can
handle more than 50,000 gallons per minute. For energy
conservation, they will be driven by high-efficiency electric
controlled by variable frequency drives. In addition to the
main pumps, 19 large sludge pumps and 10 smaller, specialized
pumps round out the Pentair contract.

The project reflects the growing trend for infrastructure
spending to upgrade municipal fresh water and wastewater
systems across the United States. Richard J. Cathcart,
president of Pentair's Water Technologies segment, notes
that the EPA estimates a need for $150 billion dollars in
spending over the next 20 years to ensure safe drinking
water in America's cities.

"This job, together with another recently completed New York
City project, round out more than $10 million in municipal
business that the Pentair group has been awarded in the last
two years on the Eastern seaboard alone," Cathcart said.

Fairbanks Morse Pump, located in Kansas City, has a long
history as a manufacturer of custom-built water and wastewater
pumping equipment for municipal applications. Pentair's
Water Technologies segment has expanded beyond its original
pump business to become a diversified, global water equipment
business that delivered compound annual growth of 45 percent
in sales and 55 percent in profits from 1995 through 2000.

Pentair ( http://www.pentair.com ) is a St. Paul-based
manufacturer whose core businesses compete in tools, water
technologies, and enclosures markets. The company employs
13,000 people in more than 50 locations around the world.

Wireless Matrix to Team With Siemens Milltronics
------------------------------------------------------------

CALGARY, Alberta--(Business Wire)--March 21, 2001--Wireless
Matrix Corporation (TSE:WRX.) and Siemens Milltronics Process
Instruments Inc. are pleased to announce that they have entered
into a co-operation Agreement for the joint development and
provision of Wireless Matrix' industry-leading IP Anywhere(R)
services to specific sectors of the global water monitoring
and remote inventory monitoring market.

The Agreement provides the framework for the relationship
between the companies. Under the terms of the Agreement,
Siemens Milltronics and Wireless Matrix will work co-operatively
to offer customers in the potable and waste water and remote
inventory monitoring markets the ability to move data from
Siemens Milltronics monitoring and control devices into an
enterprise-wide format as provided through IP Anywhere. The
companies will work together to identify potential opportunities
for marketing and selling of IP Anywhere in conjunction with
Siemens Milltronics technology, and will develop independent
and joint business functions for the successful delivery of
IP Anywhere services to targeted markets. IP Anywhere will be
distributed by Siemens Milltronics and provided to customers
under the Siemens brand name.

Siemens Milltronics has annual sales of approximately $80
million of level measurement instrumentation, with
approximately 500,000 points of measurement installed
worldwide. Given the relatively new nature of the remote
inventory monitoring market, it is not known what percentage
of the aggregate level sensing market is available to be
targeted with remote inventory monitoring services. While
global numbers for the water market are not available, North
America is believed to have approximately 190,000 public
water treatment facilities and 22,000 wastewater treatment
facilities.

"As with Schlumberger in global oil and gas, it has been and
continues to be core to our business strategy to address our
target markets through partnerships with incumbent global
industry leaders. Clearly, Siemens Milltronics is such a company,"
said Dr. J.T. Knight, Chief Executive Officer of Wireless Matrix.
"In the short term, there is clear customer demand and strong
economics underlying this partnership. Remote inventory monitoring
is a prominent current market, and we believe over the longer
term that water will emerge as the next precious fluid on this
planet and thereby constitute a key IP Anywhere market. We
also believe we can readily leverage the mobile wireless data
expertise of our Norcom Networks business unit to drive
additional revenue for logistics and mobile workforce management
applications in these markets."

About SIEMENS MILLTRONICS

Hot Messages from the Help Forum

People post their requests for help and offer their suggestions
to others in our open forum.

Mr. Allen needs help with leuconostoc microorganism:

We operate a liquid sweetner facility. All of our Industrial
Waste Water is collected into a 800 gallon underground pit
then pumped to a 4000 gallon holding tank where it is treated
with Sodium Hydroxide to raise the pH and then discharged to
the city waste water treatment facility.

Our problem seems to come from a micro organism called Leuconostoc
which attaches itself to the bottom of the pits and holding tank.
It releases a foul smelling discharge which resembles mop strings.
We treat it with a strong bleach solution to shock and pool
chlorine tablets to help maintain. As the weather gets warm and
more sweetner is introduced to the system the bacterium flourishes.

We are looking into finding a biocide which will kill or control
to a better degree the biomass or bacterium. We are also placed
under special restrictions by the city as we can not disrupt
the operations of the waste water treatment plant with chemicals
we use. If anyone has any suggestions please help.

Thanks,
Justin Allen

Mr. Love needs an oil/water separator:

I am looking for a packaged unit oil/water separator for
inground installation. This unit is to be used in line with
a sand trap. The origin of the water is a sandblasting and
cleaning bay used to prep roadway equipment for repainting.

Call For Photographs!
------------------------------------------------------------

This week's photo is of a 24-inch-in-diameter Slurrycup grit
classifier with a one-cubic-yard Grit Snail dewatering unit,
located at the Florence, Oregon WWTP. Eutek® Systems, Inc.
meets the challenges of separating and classifying grit as
small as 50 micron (270 mesh), while providing secondary
washing to minimize organic content. The 'all hydraulic'
Slurrycup has no internal moving parts, increasing operating
reliability. Applications include grit washing, snail shell
removal, and primary sludge degritting.
