Calgon : New Sentinel 12
Drinking Water Disinfection System
San
Antonio, TX -- Calgon Carbon Corporation's UV Technologies
Division announced today, at the AWWA's Annual Water Quality
Technology Conference and Exposition (WQTC), the launch of
the new Sentinel® 12 drinking water disinfection system.
The
Sentinel® 12 drinking water disinfection system, the latest
addition to Calgon Carbon's Sentinel® ultraviolet drinking
water disinfection product line, is a reliable barrier
against Cryptosporidium, Giardia, and other pathogens in
small- to medium-sized drinking water treatment plants.
Utilizing medium-pressure lamp technology, the Sentinel® 12
was specifically engineered to meet plant operator demands
for a cost-effective, robust, and compact advanced UV
disinfection system that can be easily installed into new or
existing water treatment facilities.
The
Sentinel® 12 is an extension of Calgon Carbon's
industry-leading Sentinel® product line and is consistent
with Calgon Carbon's strategic initiative to grow its UV
Technologies Division through new product development.
James
A. Sullivan, general manager for Calgon Carbon's UV
Technologies Division said, "This is the second new product
launch from our UV Technologies Division in the past two
months and represents Calgon Carbon's continued commitment
to the UV disinfection business." He added "The launch of
the Sentinel® 12 now allows Calgon Carbon to offer the
small- to medium-sized drinking water plants a
cost-effective, technologically advanced UV disinfection
solution to meet pending EPA regulations for drinking water
treatment."

EPA :
Trading Handbook Helps Water Quality Managers Achieve
Cleaner Watersheds
Washington,
DC -- Water quality trading has gained attention as an
effective market-based approach for state and local
governments to achieve cleaner water. Because the concept of
water trading is new and not commonly practiced, water
quality managers may want to know if trading will work in
their local watershed.
EPA's
"Water Quality Trading Assessment Handbook" is designed to
help determine if trading can be used to make cost-effective
pollutant reductions and determine if trading may be the
appropriate tool. Using a hypothetical river basin, the
handbook illustrates a framework that may be used as a model
in any watershed to evaluate problems and determine if
trading could effectively address those local conditions.
The
handbook also illustrates how to assess the relative costs
of controlling key pollutants and helps the user decide if
trading would be financially attractive to watershed
participants. General information about water quality
trading and the handbook is available at:

New
: Super Shredder Reduces Tough Solids
Livingston,
NJ -- The Super Shredder® in-line disintegrator easily
reduces tough solids entrained in pipeline systems
including waste sludge, oil solids, animal wastes,
agglomerates and more. The unit combines unsurpassed
grinding capabilities with streamlined, easy to maintain
features.
Innovative design provides a
high level of open area to fluid flow making the Super
Shredder ideal for applications requiring a heavy duty
size reduction processor that can handle high flows with
minimal headloss. In most cases, the headloss is 50% less
than with twin shaft units.
The Super Shredder features a
patented “spherical shredding” mechanism that cuts and
shears tough sewage solids into fine bits. The hard faced
stainless steel cutters offer unsurpassed wear resistance.
Because of the spherical rotor design, the Super Shredder
has far less moving parts and therefore requires far less
maintenance than units with banks of cutter disks. With
two easily replaceable one piece cutters, maintenance is
convenient and down time is minimal.
Included with the Super
Shredder is a S-250 Auto-Reversing control system that
senses jam conditions and automatically reverses.
