OMI Wins Coveted Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award
------------------------------------------------------------

DENVER, Nov. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Operations Management International,
Inc. (OMI) was notified today that the company will receive
the 2000 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the nation's
premier award for performance excellence and quality achievement.

One of four Baldrige Award winners, OMI is the only company
this year in the service category to win. The awards are expected
to be presented at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. later this year.

"OMI began its quality journey in 1990 when we initiated our
Obsessed With Quality process. Winning the Baldrige Award
demonstrates how our quality process continues to positively
affect the millions of lives our people touch through the daily
provision of superior utility management services," says OMI
President Don S. Evans, P.E. "My thanks to all OMI associates
for a job well done."

Named after a former Secretary of Commerce, the Malcolm Baldrige
National Quality Award is an annual award that recognizes U.S.
companies for performance excellence. It is the highest-level
quality award given in the United States. The Baldrige Award
evaluates businesses on seven performance excellence criteria:
leadership, strategic planning, customer and market focus,
information and analysis, human resource focus, process management,
and performance and business results. OMI uses that criteria
as a cornerstone for its Obsessed With Quality process.

OMI's Obsessed With Quality process focuses on empowering associates
to develop new approaches to enhance how they perform their jobs.
The company's mission is summarized in its E3 motto: Exceed
customers' expectations, empower people and enhance the environment
-- three main goals that illustrate how OMI does business every
day.

"At OMI, quality isn't something we just talk about; it's the
way we do business," says OMI Vice President of Quality and
Technology Roger B. Quayle. "For our customers that means lower
costs, world-class quality, amazing service and long-term
relationships."

OMI is a leader in the management and operation of water and
wastewater systems, providing a wide range of privatization and
outsourcing solutions for customers in government and industry.
A member of the American, employee-owned CH2M HILL Companies, Ltd.,
OMI offers complete infrastructure development, financing, design,
and operations and maintenance services. Headquartered in the
Denver Tech Center, the company manages 160 water and wastewater
facilities in the Americas, Middle East and Asia. For more
information about OMI, visit the company's web site,
http://www.omiinc.com/

Since Congress established the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality
Award in 1987, 41 organizations have earned the award. OMI is
the first Colorado-based company to win. Previous winners include
Federal Express, Merrill Lynch, 3M, Boeing, Ritz-Carlton Hotels,
Xerox, AT&T, GTE, IBM, Cadillac Company, and Motorola. More
information about the Baldrige Award is available at

Caterpillar Announces New Company to Develop Dredge Technology
------------------------------------------------------------

PEORIA, Ill., Nov. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- A new company, Peoria
Dredging Technologies L.L.C., has been formed and will build
a state-of-the-art system that has the potential to revolutionize
the dredging industry. The principal stakeholders in the new
company are the Kress family, Brimfield, Illinois. Caterpillar
Inc. (NYSE: CAT) has a minority interest in the new company.

Two key technologies form the basis of the new company: the
"dredge wheel" invented by Caterpillar Inc. and a "silt
transportation system" invented by Kress Corporation, which
incorporates the Caterpillar dredge wheel with unique capabilities
to transport and off-load sediment.

"Our goal is to have a working prototype of this innovative
technology out on the Peoria Lakes by spring of 2002," said
Dennis Thomas, president of the new company and executive
vice-president of the Kress Corporation. "We're anxious to
demonstrate that this technology will provide a cost effective
and environmentally friendly way to remove sediment from our
nation's waterways."

The core concept behind Peoria Dredging Technologies' new
approach to dredging is non-hydraulic sediment removal, a
process to extract sediment without excess water while retaining
the sediment's structural strength. This non-hydraulic approach
to dredging will be fast, economical and provide a wide
range of innovation options for disposal of the dredged
material.

"The formation of this company offers an unprecedented
opportunity to enhance the commercial and recreational
benefits of our nation's waterways," said Dick Benson,
Caterpillar vice president with responsibility for diversified
products. "We're pleased to be a partner in the development
of this exciting technology."

Small Footprint is the Key for this Wastewater Treatment System
------------------------------------------------------------

Fall River, MA - The Waterlink MTS Jet Aeration System is well
suited for use in deep tanks of 24 ft. high or greater. As l
and becomes more and more costly, many industries are seeking
pollution control facilities with the smallest possible footprint.

In the past, most tanks in the industry range from 14 ft. to
16 ft. deep and between 28 ft. and 32 ft. diameter but this
practice is changing. An increase in tank size from 16 ft.
depth to 32 ft. depth results in an approximate 40% reduction
in the air requirement as well as a reduction in tank surface
area, both of which are important considerations in controlling
VOC emissions.

The use of jet aerators in deep tanks is particularly attractive
because the aerators can be designed with no submerged moving
parts and require virtually no in tank maintenance. The use
of jets allows the designer to separate the mixing process
from the aeration process, which provides additional flexibility
and proves extremely useful for treating wastes that are
highly variable. In addition, recirculated wastewater is
expelled through the jet nozzle at a high velocity and draws
low-pressure air into the jet discharge. Such a design puts
all of the mechanical equipment in a position where it can
be maintained at ground level away from the process fluid.

Waterlink is an international provider of integrated water
purification and wastewater treatment solutions, treating
process water and wastewater for its industrial customers
and drinking water and wastewater for its municipal customers.
Waterlink's worldwide divisions offer its solutions, equipment,
systems and services throughout a network of approximately
250 independent sales organizations.

Mr. Staley needs help with centralized water plant:

Our community of 45 homes is considering moving to city water,
or funding and building a centralized water treatment plant
just for our neighborhood. We live in Florida and each have
well with varying results. The city has offered to let us tap
their water supply but the long term cost in taxes is very
high.

We suspect that we can issue a bond and fund the plan ourselves.
I don't have a civil engineering background, but am a registered
professional engineer. I have no idea on where to start looking
for both options and selection criteria.

Our rough rough guess is we could afford a $500,000 bond. We
would only use water for household use as we all still have
irrigation wells, and would most likely keep out existing wells.
Any pointers on where to go next would be appreciated?

Mr. Cooper needs info on using hydrogen peroxide as an oxidizer:

We have a high COD discharge and was hoping to use hydrogen
peroxide as an oxidizer. I hope someone can give us advice
on how to accomplish our goal of lowering COD discharge.
