Drinking Water Quality Goes On-Line
------------------------------------------------------------

One-of-a-kind service meets growing demand

A new Internet-based drinking water quality information system
has been unveiled by WaterTrax Inc. This unique service offers
comprehensive information about drinking water.

The service is especially useful for individuals and
organizations involved with drinking water, including managers
of public water systems, government agencies, consulting
engineers, drinking water laboratories, and suppliers of
water treatment equipment. In addition, the web site will
offer drinking water information to consumers. It will
include ways to find water quality information about specific
public water systems, information for homeowners with private
water supplies, and general information about drinking water.

Services are delivered through a web site, www.watertrax.com.
Version 1 of this site is now operational and is free to all
users. This site addresses the growing demand for information
about drinking water. The main feature of version 1 is a
comprehensive database of drinking water quality standards
and guidelines for various jurisdictions, including the
World Health Organization, the US Environmental Protection
Agency and Health Canada. The database contains information
on over 300 substances and conditions that affect the quality
of drinking water.

Version 2 will include additional services that will allow
public water systems to track their water data. This system,
also a first of its kind, will be unveiled later this year.
Features in Version 2 will assist water suppliers to meet
the needs of their customers as well as the requirements
of current and future legislation.

Water quality issues given high priority by governments

Several recent events, such as the waterborne disease
outbreak at Walkerton, Ontario in May of this year and the
major waterborne outbreak of cryptosporidiosis in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin in 1993, have served to highlight the increasing
importance of monitoring and properly managing drinking
water quality for both public water utilities and private
supplies. As a direct result, governments in both the
United States and Canada are passing new drinking water
regulations and allocating more money to the area of
drinking water quality.

Waste Management Signs Agreement for Waste Treatment Projects
------------------------------------------------------------

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 29, 2000--Waste Management Inc.
(NYSE:WMI) today announced that its subsidiaries, USA Waste of
Virginia Inc., and King George Landfills Inc., have signed a
Final Project Agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) and the Virginia Department of Environmental
Quality (DEQ) for waste treatment projects at the Maplewood
Landfill in Amelia County, Va., and the King George County
Landfill in King George, Va.

The "bioreactor" projects are part of the EPA's Project XL
program, which stands for "eXcellence and Leadership."

"This project with the EPA and the Virginia DEQ will provide
valuable information on the use of bioreactors at landfill
sites," said A. Maurice Myers, chairman and CEO of Waste
Management. "The information we gain will be significant
to the EPA and the waste industry as a whole."

The projects will include two different bioreactor techniques.
The Maplewood Landfill will recirculate leachate from the
landfill itself, and the King George Landfill will recirculate
leachate plus other liquids such as stormwater and
non-hazardous liquid waste water.

The bioreactor process accelerates the decomposition of
municipal solid waste, or household waste. By using this
technique, airspace in a typical landfill can be increased
by 20 to 40 percent, decreasing the need for new landfills.

The Maplewood and the King George County landfills have
double-liner systems that exceed the performance requirements
for municipal solid waste landfills and make them excellent
candidates for the bioreactor programs.

Project XL is a national pilot program that allows state
and local governments, businesses, and federal facilities
to work with the EPA in developing innovative strategies
to test better or more cost-effective ways of achieving
environmental and public health protection.

Waste Management Inc. is its industry's leading provider
of comprehensive waste management services. Based in Houston,
the Company serves municipal, commercial, industrial and
residential customers throughout North America.

Versatile M-Series Liquid Polymer Feed System
------------------------------------------------------------

Variable Speed Mixing, Automatic Dosage Control Key to System

BRADLEY, Ill., September 26, 2000 - USFilter's Stranco Products
now offers the PolyBlend® M Series, a highly flexible liquid
polymer feed system able to handle polymers with higher than
normal molecular weights, varying charge densities, or diverse
chemical composition. The M Series is the best choice to
handle current and future polymer technologies and is especially
suitable for todayÕs industrial wastewater applications.

The M Series offers two powerful options which set it apart
from any other polymer system: variable speed mixing and
automatic dosage control with constant solution strength.
With concurrent dosage and concentration control, the polymer
feed pump and the dilution water ratio control valve
automatically maintains the desired dosage and concentration.
The desired ratio of primary and secondary dilution water is
maintained as the output is adjusted. Output can be adjusted
remotely via 4-20mA or manually right at the unit.

Six feeder sizes cover output ranges of dilution water from
0.1 to 12,000 gallons per hour (GPH) and neat polymer from
0.4 to 50 GPH. The PolyBlend M Series operates with a selection
of 14 diaphragm, gear, or progressing cavity polymer pumps.
The M Series' rugged, open-frame design allows easy access
to all system components, simplifying scheduled maintenance
and onsite system upgrade of controls and pumps.

There is a PolyBlend M unit available for every liquid polymer
feed requirement, and the series includes many custom
features as options, including advanced electronics such
as data logging, remote control and telemetry systems. By
offering the widest possible range of customer-selected
control systems, mixing regimes and service support levels,
the PolyBlend M Series can guarantee a fast return on
investment through labor and chemical savings.

Mr. Chaniotakis needs standards wastewater treatment:

We are working on an instrument for the direct and continuous
monitoring of Nitrate, Nitrite, Ammonia, and pH of wastewater
treatment plants. For the calibration of the instrument we
need a protocol to make in the lab a solution that resembles
the water that comes out of a wastewater treatment plant.

To this solution we will then add the appropriate amount of
the species to be measured, so that it can be used as
calibrating solutions. Can any one provide us with such
a recipe?

Thanks,
